No. 06/2025) inviting applications for multiple Management Trainee posts across engineering and non-engineering disciplines. GSL builds and repairs ships for the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and other customers and is now looking for bright young engineers and finance professionals to join their Management Trainee programme.
Who can apply?
The advertisement is open to Indian nationals who meet the specified educational qualifications and age limits (upper age limit considered as on 31 July 2025). Final-year students may apply subject to meeting the minimum percentage requirement before joining.
- Disciplines advertised: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Naval Architecture, Finance (CA/ICMA), Robotics.
- Essential qualification: Full-time BE/B.Tech in the respective discipline (or Graduate + CA/ICMA for Finance). Minimum 1st class / 60% or equivalent CGPA in general (specific relaxations mentioned for categories as applicable).

Pay & benefits
Management Trainees will join in the E-1 pay scale (₹40,000 – 1,40,000) during training. The CTC during the Management Trainee period is approximately ₹11.65 lakhs per annum. On absorption as Assistant Manager (subject to performance and vacancies) the CTC rises to about ₹15.40 lakhs per annum. Trainees receive DA, HRA (as applicable), perks & allowances and full medical benefits.
Selection process
The selection process consists of a written test (objective type) with two parts — Discipline Knowledge and General Management Aptitude — followed by document verification and interview for shortlisted candidates. Minimum qualifying marks and category-wise pass marks are specified in the notification. Shortlisting ratio and final merit will be based on combined performance in the written test and interview.
- Written Test (CBT/PBT): Part I (Discipline knowledge) + Part II (General aptitude)
- Interview: 15 marks
- Minimum qualifying marks vary by category (UR/EWS vs SC/ST/OBC/PwBD)
Important application details
- Application mode: Only online through GSL recruitment portal — no other mode will be accepted.
- Application fee: ₹500 (SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen & internal candidates are exempt as per rules).
- Documents to keep ready: Photo, signature, SSC (DOB proof), marksheets/degrees, caste/disability certificate (if applicable), experience and Aadhaar. File size limits are specified in the notice.
- Security deposit: Selected Management Trainees are required to pay a security deposit (20% of basic + DA) recoverable over two years and refundable after three years of service — read the notice for full terms.
