Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The recruitment methodology varies across different post categories:

  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’: Selection comprises a Written Test (consisting of Discipline Specific Part A, Aptitude/Ability Part B, and Descriptive Part C where applicable) carrying negative marking (-1/3) followed by an Interview. Final empanelment is based on 50% weightage to written test and 50% to interview marks.
  • Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant ‘A’, Technician ‘B’, Draughtsman ‘B’: Selection involves a Written Test (80 MCQs in 1.5 hours with +1 / -0.33 marking) and a Skill Test of qualifying (‘go-no-go’) nature.
  • Nurse ‘B’, Radiographer-A, Cook: Selection is based on a Written Test followed by a qualifying Skill Test. Final merit is determined entirely by written test performance among qualified candidates.
  • Fireman ‘A’: Selection includes a Written Test, Preliminary Medical Examination (PME), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). PET is qualifying in nature.
  • Light Vehicle Driver ‘A’: Selection consists of a Written Test (covering Motor Vehicles Act, Elementary English, Arithmetic, and General Knowledge) and a qualifying Driving Skill Test.
